Founder
Betty Smith

On July 19, 1994 Betty Smith’s son, Stacy, was murdered. From that experience, the “Passion of Mary Grief Support Ministry was born. Betty answered the call from GOD when he placed a vision in her heart to bless others who had endured the bitter cup of losing a child.

Through it all she never wavered. She walked in GOD’s purpose knowing that only He could strengthen and give her the discipline to bring the vision to fruition.

The ministry has been in existence for 10 years and serves the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. Annually, the group sponsors nonprofit programs and provides donations/support to grieving families. In support of the ministry, Sister Smith was featured on the Washington D.C. local radio stations 93.9 WKYS and Empower Hour on 89.3 FM to increase public awareness of the violence and deaths of young adults in the communities. Her goal is to work across borders, combining efforts from police, politicians, spiritual groups, community leaders and the community at large to help stop the violence. The group has grown and continues to grow. God knew that in order for her to heal she had to minister to others out of her pain.
